I’ve been reading the book “Necessary Endings” by Dr. Henry Cloud, which is a very interesting book. And it made me realize that in order for me to continue to take my business to the next level, I would have to let certain services go.
I still have a few clients in my Coaching Gym program through MEG Fitness, yet I no longer offer new services through MEG Fitness. While reading the book and coming to this realization that I’ll have to either let these clients go or transition them into one of my current programs, I also had to ask myself what I wanted to do with the MEG Fitness site. I have some really cool ideas that further my mission of empowering health and fitness professionals, so now I can start developing that new vision. But this doesn’t make it easier to think about letting these clients go, many who have been working with me for a LONG time!
I did let an old part of my business go a little over a year ago, but it was easier then, because I was moving from one state to another. This was when I stopped my personal training services. I had stopped taking NEW training clients years earlier, but still had a few that I just couldn’t quit on. When I moved to Arizona, though, I made the choice to not continue my personal training.
And this is what I was thinking about today when I received a flyer from ACE (American College of Exercise). I had no problem tossing it, but I did feel a funny feeling of loss, letting go. But, I know that letting go of that “old” part of who I was and what I did only opens up opportunities for more of who I am today and what I am doing moving forward!
In fact, this year has been my best year, yet, because I am becoming more certain of that ‘current’ person.
This is what I have to keep in mind when I do let my Coaching Gym clients go or choose to work with me in a new way. This opens up the ability to work with people in a much more powerful way than I ever did in the past.
When YOU think of what has to be let go in order to help you move forward with your business, what comes up? Is there something or a client you’re holding onto, only because you are avoiding the feelings of neglect or change?
How is this holding your business back?
