Take advantage of today’s economy

You’ve heard me say this before, but this is an ideal time to start working on a service-based business! An ideal situation is to have a paying job, but many people don’t. And you know what? It’s STILL a great time to start a business, because once you have your business up and running, and the economy has bounced back, people will know who you are and will feel a sense of trust in what you have to offer.

Anyone who dreams of starting a business must go through the self-discovery process of figuring out who they want to see, what they want to offer, where they want to offer it (what location to see clients and what location in general), and why.

The next step is to put your plans together. While doing this, you will learn who else offers what you want to offer, and get a better sense of your strengths and weaknesses, compared to their strengths and weaknesses. This is also when you’ll take inventory of the environment; what are the external threats and opportunities. Sure, the economy is down right now, but it’s down for EVERYONE, so how can you make that ‘theat’ into an opportunity for you?

Through that planning process, you’ll then map out how you will tell the world what you have to offer. What resources are available to you today will be different than they will be in a year or two from now, so work with what you have, not what you WISH you had.

Dreaming won’t make it so, but digging in and doing your research and your planning can make it so. And, doing it during times of slow economic growth is still the best time to start it, now.

The state of our country

I do believe that the US is a strong country. And, I also believe that many companies are still doing quite well. I see that evidence every day for my own business and that of most of my clients.

However, today the stock market is diving and diving.  This means people are selling and selling and no one is buying… yet. And, what prompted me to write this blog is the news that safes are selling off the shelves! Oh my gosh! People are panicing! AND, if this continues, there WILL be serious problems with our financial systems! And it will be entirely because of the public.

Times will get better. If you don’t have to live on your savings/investments, the best course of action, according to financial experts, is to hold on and just wait things out. What goes down does go up…. Unless everyone panics and pulls their money out to put into safes!

I’ve said this before; this is a great time to start working on a business. Now is the time to get your name out there and let people know what you have to offer. Develop relationships that will last. Then, when the economy has improved, your business will thrive.

The name of the game right now is to hold on, don’t pull money out of your savings/holdings, and, if you want to start a business, start working on it, now!
